I am a career coach who specialises in job search support. I work with clients 1:1 whose circumstances have changed over the years (including mums) and who want to work flexibly or to change their working lives in some way.
I offer support with practical job search tools (CV writing, LinkedIn) as well as with confidence and mindset.
I also host a free Facebook group The Compassionate Career Collective for tips, training and suggestions on how to change your working life for the better.
After taking a career break to have children, I now want to return to work. Ideally it would be a role that is flexible so that I work only when my children are in school.
However, after being out of work for 4 years, my confidence is super low. Can you help?
Yes I can. I can help you to work out what type of role you would love to be doing, what you can negotiate on and what is important to you going forward.
We can work on your limiting beliefs and what is holding you back from having the working life that you would like. We can work on small actions to help you increase your confidence.
I’m a 41-year-old mama with 14 years experience as a teacher. 2 years ago I left my school and set up as a private tutor.
However, I’m now at the point where I have to decide whether to go for it as a self-employed tutor or return to teaching.
I love the flexibility of working on my own, but also find it lonely. Do you have any advice on what I should do?
I would look at what you are doing at the moment and what you have tried so far. Are there any ways that you can incorporate the social side of things into your working week? Maybe you could work from a shared office or workspace?
There are lots of things we can consider and see how they might work for you.
I’m nearing the end of my maternity leave after having my second child, and I really don’t want to go back to work.
I’ve come up with a business idea that I think could work, however I’m struggling with imposter syndrome, and wondering if I really have what it takes to start a business. Do you have any tips for me?
Yes! Let’s look at what is making you feel like an imposter. I would suggest that we go through your skills and strengths and look for evidence of where you CAN be positive about your business ideas.
I actually went through this exact same scenario on my second mat leave. I would suggest that we look at things step by step and talk about what might be holding you back (your fears).
